Blue Creek School Academic Derby

Elementary Academic Derby is an academic competition between elementary schools in Onslow County. Each team consists of students in the fifth grade.  The competition is in the format of a question-and-answer quiz show.   Questions are from various disciplines including math, science, history, geography, grammar, and general knowledge.  The Blue Creek Elementary Academic Derby Team usually consists of between six and ten players selected from the fifth grade.   Practices take place after school, and matches take place during the regular school day at the television studios located at Southwest High School.  Each match is recorded for broadcast on the G10 Channel on Time-Warner Cable.  The selection process will take place after the schedule of matches has been released.
