Dr. Carl Cruthis

Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year at Blue Creek Elementary School! We are thrilled to have your family join us for another year of growth, learning, and discovery. This year, our theme is "Discover your POWER," where POWER stands for Purpose, Ownership, Wonder, Effort, and Reflection.

At Blue Creek, we believe that every student has the potential to be a powerful learner and leader. This year, we will focus on helping each student discover and harness their POWER in meaningful ways:

  • Purpose: Students will explore their goals and passions, understanding the importance of having a clear sense of direction in their learning journey.
  • Ownership: We encourage students to take responsibility for their actions and learning, fostering a sense of independence and accountability.
  • Wonder: Curiosity is the heart of discovery. We will nurture students' natural curiosity, encouraging them to ask questions and seek knowledge.
  • Effort: Success is achieved through hard work and perseverance. We will support students in putting forth their best effort in all endeavors.
  • Reflection: Reflecting on experiences and learning is key to growth. We will guide students in thoughtful reflection to understand their progress and areas for improvement.

In addition to our POWER theme, we are excited to continue our RCA-inspired House System. The House System promotes camaraderie, teamwork, and a sense of belonging among our students. Each student will belong to one of our four houses, each representing a core value aligned with each House

  • Amistand: House of Friendship: The House of Amistad, which means "friendship" in Spanish, is represented by the color red and the symbol of a heart. This house emphasizes the importance of building strong, positive relationships. Students in Amistad are encouraged to be supportive, kind, and inclusive, fostering a community where everyone feels welcome and valued.
  • Altruismo: House of Givers: The House of Altruismo, derived from the Portuguese word for "altruism," is represented by the color black and the symbol of a hand. This house is all about generosity and selflessness. Students in Altruismo are inspired to give back to others, demonstrate empathy, and act with a spirit of kindness and charity, making a positive impact in their school and community.
  • Isibindi: House of Courage: The House of Isibindi, meaning "courage" in Zulu, is represented by the color green and the symbol of a shield. This house encourages students to be brave, take risks, and stand up for what is right. Members of Isibindi are taught to approach challenges with determination and resilience, demonstrating strength and bravery in all they do.
  • Reveur: House of Dreamers: The House of Reveur, from the French word for "dreamer," is represented by the color blue and the symbol of a dreamcatcher. This house inspires creativity, imagination, and a sense of wonder. Students in Reveur are encouraged to dream big, think outside the box, and pursue their passions with enthusiasm and innovation.

Throughout the year, students will participate in various house challenges, events, and activities that reinforce these values, build school spirit, and create lasting memories.

We are committed to providing a supportive and enriching environment where your child can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Our dedicated staff is here to ensure that each student feels valued and empowered to discover their POWER.

Thank you for being a vital part of our Blue Creek family. Together, we will make this school year a powerful and memorable one.

As we prepare for the new year, I encourage you to do the following in preparation:

Be sure to connect with our PTO at their Facebook Page, or reach out at BlueCreekPTO@gmail.com.

I can't wait to see our Broncos, but until then, enjoy summer break and rest up!

Best regards,

Carl Cruthis, Principal
